Workshops
My workshops are practical and energizing and are packed with expertise in the areas of positive discipline, independent play, getting ready for kindergarten, effective language, and other habits that will help you on your path to becoming a more intentional parent.
How to Set your Child up for Success in Kindergarten Workshop
During this workshop, we’ll talk about all the ways you can help your child to be (and feel!) ready for the transition to Kindergarten. You’ll leave with lots of strategies and a confidence that both you and your child are ready to take this new big step!
Using Consistent Language as an Intentional Parent Workshop
Words are powerful! During this workshop, I’ll share invaluable phrases and words I’ve used in the classroom and at home to foster independence, responsibility and confidence.
Making Independent Play a Habit Workshop
During this workshop, we’ll explore how you can empower your child with more independent play. I’ll help you to step out of the role of entertainer and to help your child build the social skills they need to play on their own without relying on technology. If your child is older and screens have become an issue (dysregulation, power struggles), I will help you to replace technology with really engaging child-lead play experiences.
Positive Discipline Workshop
During this series of workshops, we’ll explore the Positive Discipline approach including how to strike the right balance between being kind and firm, the importance of connection, and the focus on learning rather than punishment. You’ll get to try out strategies in a fun, engaging, and memorable way.
Customized Workshop
I present on a wide range of topics related to parenting and child development. Please contact me so that we can discuss the unique needs of your group and areas of interest/need so I can get to work on your bespoke workshop!

At our congregation's winter family retreat, Julie provided two great sessions for parents. Starting with our values, Julie gave practical advice, suggested thoughtful resources and most importantly, created a safe and inviting space for parents to share challenges and successes in their parenting journeys. Thank you Julie for engaging our parents in such a meaningful and supportive way.

She is organized, takes pride in her work and you can depend on her to deliver a thought-provoking and warm presentation which is welcoming and inclusive of all. In a webinar series which she delivered, she took care to infuse relevant, compelling examples from her many years of experience as an educator and parent which helped her connect with the audience - even in a virtual space! It is clear that she honours the important role that all adults play in providing structured, loving conditions where children thrive.

Julie helped me to make a plan about how best to support two young children through a divorce. Julie was amazing! She provided the perfect picture book for each kid, gave specific strategies about how to answer their questions and help them work through their feelings. Having someone so knowledgable, kind and compassionate to help guide us through this stressful time was invaluable! Thank you, Julie!
